Center is not open on Mondays; the grounds are open seven days a
week. Naturalist-led nature hikes are 10 a.m.-noon every Saturday.
Fort Worth Water Gardens 1502 Commerce St. Fort

p.m. daily; water features run 10 a.m.-10 p.m. daily. Architects
Philip Johnson and John Burgee designed this landmark, a 4.5-acre
park with pools, fountains and waterfalls.
Fort Worth

for children 2 and younger. Parking $5. Every Wednesday is
half-price day. Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday; 10 a.m.-6

vary. Visitors can see more than 4,000 animals, including those
in one of the finest primate facilities in U.S. zoos. The newest
intallation is Texas Wild!, devoted to the flora and fauna of the
Lone Star State.

Palace of Wax and Ripley's Believe It or Not! 601 E.

year-round seven days a week (closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas
and New Year's Day). Closing times are seasonal; call ahead for
confirmation. Ticket booth closes one hour before closing. The
Palace of Wax houses more than 225 wax figures representing
Hollywood stars, famous folks from the Old West, historical
figures, storybook characters and biblical scenes. Ripley's
Believe It or Not! displays an array of oddities, curiosities and
illusions collected by Robert Ripley.
Six Flags
Hurricane Harbor Across Interstate 30 from The Ballpark in

ended on Labor Day, Sept. 3: Adult $27.99 plus tax; seniors and
those under 48 inches tall, $13.99 plus tax; children 2 and under,
free. Parking $6. Price information for 2002 will be available in
the spring before the park's opening at the end of May. Hours:
seasonal This 47-acre water park features a 1-million-gallon
wave pool that creates 4-foot surf, six 600-foot-long water
flumes, a six-story Kamikaze water slide, 62-foot-tall Geronimo, a
river raft ride and the Black Hole, a tubular slide with strobe
lights. A 2-acre section of the park is designated for small
children.
Six Flags Over Texas Texas 360 and
Interstate 30 Arlington (817) 530-6000 Prices: Adults
$40.99 plus tax; seniors age 55 and older, disabled guests and
children under 48 inches tall, $20.49 plus tax; children 2 and
under, free. Parking $9 per vehicle; preferred parking $12. Hours:
Open at 10 a.m. daily, with closing hours varying according to the
season. The park is open from early March through late October,
weekends only in spring and fall. One of the state's most
popular attractions, Six Flags Over Texas has more than 2 million
visitors each year. It features thrill rides, live entertainment
shows and skill games.
State Fair of Texas Fair

Prices: $11 adults; $7 but free on Thursdays for those 60 and
older; $7 for children under 48 inches tall; free for children 2
and under. Dates: Sept. 28-Oct. 21, 2001. Staged annually in
late September through early October at Fair Park in Dallas, this
is one of the largest state fairs in the United States. There are
numerous exhibits, an extensive midway, live music, a livestock
exposition, the annual Texas-Oklahoma football game in the Cotton
Bowl and a major musical production in the State Fair Auditorium.
